Anurag Basu clears the air of Triptii Dimri’s exit from Aashiqui 3 over her over-sexualized image; states, “I am the last person to judge an actor”

Anurag Basu has addressed the rumours surrounding Triptii Dimri’s exit from Aashiqui 3, making it clear that it was not due to her image post Animal and Bad Newz. Instead, the director confirmed that scheduling conflicts were the main reason for her not being part of the project.

Speaking with HT City, Anurag said, “I don’t know what’s the film called right now, the shoot starts this month. We have not finalised the female lead right now, it will be announced in a week.” While the lead actress has yet to be confirmed, Kartik Aaryan is already on board as the male lead. Kartik and Triptii recently worked together in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

The filmmaker, who shares a strong friendship with Triptii, dismissed claims that her ‘overtly sexualized’ image led to her being dropped from Aashiqui 3. He clarified, “Image was not the reason. I am the last person to judge an actor on the basis of the other characters they have played on screen. Aashiqui was not even the story anymore… I don’t know the source of these stories which came out.”

He further elaborated that the real issue was scheduling. “The most important thing is dates. Triptii is shooting for a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, and my film goes on floors this month too. She is still my best friend, I really like her as an actress. You should ask her too what happened.”

Earlier, in an interview with Mid-Day, when asked whether Triptii was dropped from Aashiqui 3 due to her lack of ‘purity in demeanour’, Anurag strongly denied the claim. “That’s not true,” he said, adding, “Triptii knows it too.”

Meanwhile, Triptii is currently busy with several projects, including Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara, where she stars opposite Shahid Kapoor. She is also working on Dhadak 2, produced by Karan Johar, alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi.

As for Aashiqui 3, the film will have a title change, with an official announcement expected soon. The reveal of the new female lead is set to happen within a week, keeping fans eagerly waiting for further updates.
